Shell

The scallop shell is a symbol of baptism. Many early pictures of the baptism of Jesus by John show John pouring water from such a shell onto Jesus’ Head.
The shell was also used by early church members as a sign of pilgrimage. Of course, when we are baptized we begin our pilgrimage to live our lives according to the way of Jesus.
Traditional the shell contains three drops of water symbolizing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." (Matt 28:19)

And here is the PDF "Shell (natural)" for you to download.
And here is the newer version PDF "Shell (pearls).

If you are making many in a group of people, you can speed up the process if some just do the stringing. Here are the directions I gave my helpers: Shell stringing guide

Please do not sell the patterns or the ornaments. If you give them as gifts, please always include the explanation of the symbol.
I would love to hear from all who are using my patterns. It would be nice to know that my efforts are not in vain. You find my email address on the pattern if you have any question about it. Happy to help.

I am also a lacemaker and am working on what I have dreamed about for quite some time:
the Chrismons in Lace Series.
This is a design by Brigitte Bellon. She is incredible generous and allowed me to share her pattern here with you for your own personal use PDF "Shell"

The picture you see is NOT Brigitte's lace. This is mine I had just designed and laced myself before I received Brigitte's pattern. Hers is much nicer ... but here is mine for my Advent calendar project anyway:

Crown

The symbol of the crown tells us that Christ is the King. Paul refers to Jesus in his first letter to Timothy as “the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords” (1 Tim 6:15).

When we see the crown, we are reminded that we are servants of Christ the King. He is above all other kings and authorities and we must be obedient to him first.

There are many symbols of the crown in every church. One just have to look.
